Accessibilty
We recognise the importance of providing a website that is accessible by all users. Therefore we have made every effort to ensure that our site can be easily used by people with disabilities. We have followed the principles laid down by the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI), the Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB) and the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (DDA).
Our guidelines
- designing the site for an 800x600 view so horizontal scrolling is not required, even for users with small screens
- using meaningful ALT text for all images to provide descriptive text
- using descriptive hyperlink text
- avoiding the use of frames, which are difficult for special browsers to interpret
- using stylesheets (cascading style sheets) for all visual layout. If your browser or browsing device does not support stylesheets at all, the use of structured semantic mark up ensures that the content of each page is still readable and clearly structured
- using an easy-to-see web colour scheme
- using an easier to read non-serif font type, size and colour.
