Carl Lindahl in Tartan

Since the re-launch of the BFSA in 2000 members have been allocated a regional chapter based on their residency. The regions are:

Each activated chapter has a regional representative on the BFSA committee who is the local liaison for BFSA members and current US grantees. Chapters are organized locally by sub-committee and are involved in developing and implementing educational and cultural exchange in their area. They arrange events for alumni, scholars and their guests, and create a network of BFSA members in the region for social and professional association. They also contribute towards maintaining the profile of the Fulbright Commission in their region.

Scottish & Northern Ireland Chapter

The Scottish/Northern Ireland BFSA Chapter’s Christmas Reception was yet again a warm and enjoyable evening. As in previous years, the United States’ Consulate General in Edinburgh was the venue for the reception where Lisa Vickers, the U.S. Consul, spoke of the new Scottish Fulbright awards being planned for the coming year and her memories of working with Fulbright associations around the world. Guests included current and alumni Fulbright Teachers, representatives from the British Council and many BFSA members from around Scotland and the rest of the United Kingdom.

Iona

The Chapter will be once again visiting Iona in the Spring.

The Scotland and Northern Ireland chapter, together with the British Council, are hosting an evening reception at the US Consulate in Edinburgh on Thursday, 8 December 2005.
